The Italian Overall, U19 and Pararowing titles awarded to Varese (C.Stampa)

The COOP Italian Championships were held today in Varese, with 22 titles up for grabs in the Senior and Lightweight categories. The lion’s share of the waters of the Schiranna was taken by the Canottieri Gavirate, with a hoard of Italian titles won, six: double, two without and eight Senior men, double and eight Lightweight men, double Senior women. Five rowing teams are capable of winning two tricolors each: Marina Militare (four with and four without Senior men), SC Santo Stefano a Mare (Senior single and women’s Lightweight single), CUS Torino (four without and four Senior pairs women), RCC Cerea (two without and four without men’s Lightweights) and SC Varese (women’s Lightweight doubles, four men’s Lightweight pairs). The remaining six Italian Absolute titles were shared by CC Aniene (eight Senior women’s), Carabinieri (Senior men’s singles), CRV Italia (two with men), Fiamme Oro (two without Senior women), Fiamme Gialle (four Senior men’s pairs ) and Baldesio (men’s lightweight single).

The finals for the Under 19 category also took place in Varese, with three Italian titles finishing on the SC Lario board, in the specialties of the women’s eight and the men’s four without and four with. Double Italian success for Moltrasio (four without and four with for men) and SC Varese (two without for women, eight for men), while RCC Cerea (women’s singles), SC Arolo (men’s doubles), SC Limite (two without men’s), Nettuno Trieste (women’s doubles), Canoa San Giorgio (men’s singles), Rowing Club Genovese (two with men’s), SC Menaggio (four women’s sculls) and SC Armida (four men’s sculls).

Finally, as regards the Italian Pararowing titles, both physical, intellectual and relational – the latter held under the aegis of the FISDIR – tricolor hat-trick for SC Armida, which wins in the men’s 4-rower GIG with coxswain, four with PR3 II mixed and mixed double PR3 II1. Two Italian titles for CC Aniene, who won the men’s single PR1 with Giacomo Perini, fresh from the silver won in the World Cup in Poznan last Sunday and who in the specialty will represent Italy at the next Paralympics in Paris, and the single PR2 men’s with the other blue pararowing Daniele Stefanoni. One Italian title each for Gavirate (GIG 4-rower mixed PR3II), SC Corgeno (men’s single PR3 II1) and Moltrasio (men’s single PR3). Having archived the Italian COOP Championships in Varese, the next Italian rowing event is scheduled for next weekend, 29 and 30 June, in Candia with the Italian Master Championships.
