Ail Treviso, Sergio Leonardi new president | Today Treviso | News

TREVISO The Italian Association against Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma (AIL) announces the appointment of Sergio Leonardi as new president of the Treviso Section for the next three years. An active person in the field of associations, volunteering and social work, Leonardi brings with him experience and a profound dedication to the cause also thanks to his 9-year mandate as vice-president of the Treviso AIL with delegations to relations with Ulss 2, to research projects and relations with the Scientific Committee. Formerly deputy mayor of the Municipality of Roncade and municipal councilor with responsibilities for social policies, employment policies and personnel, in the past he was a Health Assistant Coordinator for the then Ulss 9 for a long time. His CV also includes other important roles such as that of Contract Professor for the University of Padua – Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Head of AIL of Roncade, President of the City of Roncade Foundation, member of the Board of Directors of the voluntary association Terra del Terzo Mondo and member of the Board of Directors of the Volunteer Service Center – Southern District. Since 1973 he has also collaborated with AVIS in the Blood Collection Units and in raising awareness of blood donation in Treviso schools. Alongside him, the Members’ Assembly and the Board of Directors then appointed Andreina Fuser as Vice President, Serenella Cais as Treasurer and Massimo Bottari as Secretary. The Councilors Eva Bedin, Maria Rosa Boarato and Fabio Gabbana were also elected, all for a team that has the aim of consolidating the objectives of the AIL Treviso throughout the Treviso area.

In detail, the appointment of President Leonardi comes after 9 years of presidency of Ernesto Bosa who led the association with passion and commitment. «It is a great honor for me to assume the presidency of AIL Treviso – states the new President Sergio Leonardi – From today onwards, with all our generous volunteers we will continue to work with the same dedication that characterized the mandate of our colleague and friend Ernesto Bosa, who I thank. On the other hand, he was a generous and discreet President, always ready to do what was necessary without ever denying himself the needs of others. This is why his commitment will be an example to me.”

“The objective is now to continue to offer, day after day, support and hope to those who fight against these terrible diseases. In fact, only by acting in synergy between the public service and social solidarity will it be possible to tackle these terrible pathologies and support the suffering of those involved – Leonardi continues – In the future I would therefore like to be able to consolidate what has been achieved so far and open up new fundraising possibilities to increasingly support the growing needs for horizontal subsidiarity with the Pediatric Hematology and Oncohematology Department of the Treviso Hospital, of solidarity and support for the needs of patients and their families as well as of hope towards new treatments with support for research projects”.

“I sincerely thank all the members and volunteers who have made our work possible in these last 9 years of mandate – he states instead Bosa, President of AIL Treviso for three consecutive terms starting from 2015 – Thanks to Sergio’s experience, however, I am certain that AIL Treviso will continue to prosper and help others in the future. I therefore wish the best to all the new Board of Directors, convinced that our association, thanks to the constant and fundamental support of citizens, can continue to commit itself to supporting research, assistance and awareness on leukemia, lymphomas and myeloma”.
