LECCE – As expected, given the heat and the “maritime temptations”, the turnout for the runoff elections, at 12pm, was 18.55%, almost seven points less than in the first round (26.79%). The outgoing mayor, Carlo Salvemini, already elected twice consecutively, tries the “comeback” against the former mayor Adriana Poli Bortone. Challenge between right and left also a Copertino, where Vincenzo De Giorgi, with the centre-right coalition, challenges Antonio Leo and the united centre-left. At 12pm, Copper turnout remained at 13.99% (the figure for the first round was 26.31%). TO Bari, where there is another challenge between the two main national poles, the turnout is stuck at 9.52%, compared to 21.43% in the first round. In Puglia the match is fundamental in view of the regional elections which will be held in a year: Bari and Lecce are strategic cities, the coalition that governs them almost always wins.

At a national level the total figure is below 12%, i.e. 11.98%. It is a further drop compared to the first round: around 10 points nationally. Today the ballots are held in very important capitals: Florence, Bari, Perugia, Potenza, Campobasso, Avellino, Caltanissetta Cremona, Lecce, Rovigo, Urbino, Verbania, Vercelli and Vibo Valentia. The new official turnout figures will be published at 6pm and 11pm.
