Transfer coup by Akern Libertas Livorno 1947 which announced the arrival in amaranth of top player Ariel Filloy, a 190cm, 85kg playmaker/guard. The expert player returns to Tuscany driven by the desire to get closer to home (Pistoia) after winning promotion to Serie A with Pallacanestro Trieste in the 2023/24 season. For the class of 1987, he averaged 10.2 points per game in the last season of Serie A2 with also 3.2 assists and 2.6 rebounds.

THE CARREER – Born on 11 March 1987 in Cordoba (Argentina), but of Italian citizenship, Filloy is fresh from the Serie A2 championship won with the Pallacanestro Trieste shirt with which he recorded an average points of 9.8 plus 4 assists per game. Filloy’s career speaks for him: at 20 years old he made his debut in LegaDue with the Crabs Rimini shirt (6.8 points per game with a high of 16). In 2008 he moved to Olimpia Milano who loaned him to Vanoli Cremona (LegaDue): for Ariel he averaged 4.6 points which became 6.4 the following year at Scafati, where he was sent on loan again from Olimpia Milano.

In 2010/11 he remained in LegaDue with the Pistoia shirt (10.4 points on average). The 2011/12 season sees him again at Olimpia Milano where he plays 8.9 minutes per match with an average of 2.6 points. In August 2012 he ended his experience with the Milanese club and moved to Trieste, in LegaDue. For the Italian-Argentine the points scored per game rise to 13.6. In 2013/14 he signed for Reggio Emilia (Serie A) with which he scored 3.7 points per game, but above all he won the EuroChallenge.

From 2014 to 2016 he played again in Pistoia, but this time in Serie A. The first year his average points scored was 9.9 which then dropped to 7.7 in the following season. For Filloy, however, these were the seasons of his consecration and so the following year he signed for the glorious Reyer Venezia coached by the libertassino Walter De Raffaele. With an average of over 7 points, Ariel contributed to winning the championship, the third in Reyer’s history, which arrived 74 years after the previous one in 1943.

The splendid season he played earned him the first call-up to the senior national team, which reconnected the blue thread of his life after the 18 appearances with the Under 20 between 2006 and 2007 and the bronze medal at the European Championships in the category. Filloy made his debut for the Azzurri on July 29, 2017 in Trento during the friendly match against Belarus, won 96-36. Ariel scored 10 points. His experience with the Azzurri lasted two years during which he collected 46 appearances with 212 points scored. Filloy participated in the 2019 European Championships and the 2019 World Cup.

After saying goodbye to Venezia, the new Amaranto purchase, played in Scandone Avellino (still in Serie A) from 2017 to 2019, stopping the scoreboard at an average of 9.7 the first year and 8.7 the second. In 2019/20 he returned to Reyer Venezia (4.2 points per game) where he won the Coppa Italia, before playing a year at Victoria Libertas Pesaro (7.9). The last two seasons (of ten consecutive) in Serie A saw him as the protagonist in Tortona (10 points on average in 2021/22 and 7.9 in 2022/23). The rest is recent history with the crazy feat accomplished with the Trieste jersey, capable of winning 9 games out of 10 in the playoffs and never losing away. Numbers that brought the Giuliani back to Serie A.
