Tragedy at work on the outskirts of Lanuvio and Castelli Romani: 29-year-old Valerio Salvatore dies in Campoleone (Aprilia)

On Friday afternoon, in Campoleone, a stone’s throw from Lanuvio and the Castelli Romani, but in the territory belonging to the municipality of Aprilia, yet another workplace tragedy occurred, which had as its victim a young Roman worker, an electrician of just 29 years old, who was killed by a fall from an asbestos roofing located in the company where he was working, on behalf of the external company Fazel Impianti.

Valerio Salvatore, this is his name, would have turned 30 in a few days, but he died in a tragic accident while working at a company located in via Nettunense.

According to initial reconstructions, Valerio was carrying out work to remove asbestos from the roof of an industrial warehouse and while he was walking on part of the asbestos roofing, it gave way, causing him to fall into the void from a height of about ten metres. Unfortunately, the impact with the ground was fatal and the doctors who intervened could do nothing to save him from death. Despite the attempts of the medical staff to resuscitate him, Valerio never regained consciousness, until his death was confirmed.

The Carabinieri from the Lanuvio station intervened at the site of the accident, carrying out the initial investigations and collecting the testimonies of those present to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident. Part of the warehouse was seized to allow further checks.

Valerio was not only a competent electrician, but he had also obtained the BLSD (Basic Life Support Defibrillation) instructor’s license. This certificate, obtained through specific courses and a rigorous exam, allowed him to teach first aid techniques and the use of a defibrillator, fundamental skills for saving lives in emergency situations.

The news of Valerio Salvatore’s tragic death spread rapidly, arousing deep emotion and pain among family and friends, and many have gathered around the young man’s family, waiting for the funeral to be celebrated to pay him their final farewell.

This incident once again highlights the crucial importance of safety at work, an issue that continues to require attention and rigorous controls. The Velletri Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into manslaughter to determine possible responsibilities and prevent future similar accidents.

The young Roman electrician, who tragically died while carrying out his work in Campoleone, was also known for his passion for Roma. A die-hard fan of the Giallorossi team, Valerio shared with many others the strong emotional bond and passion for football, a significant part of his life that now lives in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Today, on the same Facebook wall where so many are expressing their words of condolence, it is moving to discover that Valerio Salvatore had shared such a profound message on November 1, 2020: “Let’s enjoy life every day…. because no one knows what awaits us tomorrow…”. A phrase that resonates with particular intensity today, considering that Valerio’s life, unfortunately, ended in his youth.
