TRIESTE The Bora arrived on the Gulf of Trieste as announced, sweeping away much of the mucilage that had accumulated in recent days, giving rise to scenarios never seen before due to the consistency of the masses along the coast.

On Sunday there are still some residues between the Rive, the Sacchetta and Barcola, but the wind has brought about the desired effect, that mixing of the sea, fundamental for breaking up and dispersing the accumulations.

The beach establishments are breathing a sigh of relief, after the peak of floating material reached yesterday. Even some yachtsmen have already taken the opportunity to leave their moorings and return to sea, even if the situation in the marinas has yet to return to normal.

And there is growing concern that the phenomenon will return, as Arpa explains (here is the link to the interview).

The situation of the bathing establishments

From Grignano, Alex Welcome, owner of Sirena and Riviera, thinking about the past few days, speaks of a «terrifying scenario, since I have been here I have never seen something similar. Yesterday was the first day of summer and unfortunately the sea situation was terrible, today everything is perfect. We also received a negative review – he says – about the water conditions, and we clarified that it is usually totally different. And that was just an exceptional circumstance. Here, however, it is particularly clear and clean. So we were anxiously waiting for the wind and it finally arrived.”

Also from Sticco everything has returned to normal, «the mucilage is gone – confirms one of the membersFrancesco Minucci – in any case we were full even in the last few days, it was hot and people want summer.”

Same situation also at Brooms, «we had many people, even yesterday, even though it was the worst day from the point of view of the dirty sea. Of course people tended not to go into the water – explains the manager Luca Calabrò – now luckily all the spots are gone. And obviously we hope they don’t come back.”

Some residue still remainsAusonia«but nothing like the past few days – underlines the establishment Cristina Cecchini – thinking about what we have seen we are now in paradise. Of course it takes a little patience for everything to disappear, however we are happy. We had the beach full of mucilage, while in the other areas, thanks to the high water, the situation was slightly better. The boys especially did the diving anyway. I hope that the problems are over now, after the bad weather and the dirty sea, all that’s missing are the locusts – he jokes – we need a stable weather picture to fully enjoy the summer and we hope that from now on we will be luckier”.
