On Tuesday 24 June, the investigators of the Mobile Squad, following a stakeout / observation service, aimed at preventing and repressing the trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances, in a building located near Largo XVI Luglio, arrested a 51-year-old citizen of Moroccan origin for the crime of trafficking of narcotic substances pursuant to art. 73 DPR 309/90.

The information-investigative activity was prompted by a report received at the Police Headquarters, which reported that in a residential unit, where the suspect was later found to be domiciled, there was always a large coming and going of people at all hours of the day and night.

The surveillance activity carried out by the Flying Squad investigators made it possible to ascertain the drug dealing activity; in particular, in the weeks preceding the arrest, some buyers were stopped who were found leaving the building in question, in possession of several doses of various narcotic substances and, once reported pursuant to art. 75 Presidential Decree 309/90, provided a brief description of the man from whom they obtained supplies as well as further elements which, following further investigations and verifications, led to the belief that the evidence of crime placed against the Moroccan individual who was then arrested was well founded.

The Mobile Squad agents during the last observation service and after the umpteenth sale, once the buyer had been intercepted and information about the seller had been obtained from them, decided to carry out a personal and domiciliary search in accordance with the guarantees of the law.

The search achieved a positive outcome and allowed the men of the Flying Squad to dismantle what, based on the elements collected, appeared to be a real domestic laboratory aimed at the sale and consumption of narcotic substances, as inside the apartment found n. 1 transparent nylon wrapper containing 12.50 gross grams of cocaine-type narcotic substance; n. 1 egg containing 12.07 gross grams of heroin-type narcotic substance; 725.00 euros in banknotes of various denominations, 2 perfectly functioning precision scales and various materials used for packaging the narcotic substance.

After the Public Prosecutor’s Office was notified, the man was arrested and taken to the Police Headquarters for the formal procedures and then transferred to the Arezzo prison to await validation of the arrest.

It should be noted that the presumption of innocence exists towards the suspect, in consideration of the current phase of the proceedings, i.e. that of the preliminary investigations, until a definitive finding of guilt with an irrevocable sentence.
