Ravenna, the fire at the Don Minzoni school caused 300 thousand euros in damage

The flames that broke out on April 2nd started from the external portico. Now the Municipality aims to complete the restoration work in two months

To repair the damage caused by the fire on April 2nd in a wing of the Don Minzoni middle school in Ravenna, approximately 300 thousand euros will be needed. One hundred thousand euros were immediately allocated for urgent works to reopen the school as soon as possible. The other two hundred thousand will now be used for the definitive works. The expense is borne by the Municipality which plans to complete the work in the next two months to have the building restored by the start of the 2024-2025 school year. The news is reported by the newspaper Il Resto del Carlino on newsstands today, June 23rd.

According to what has emerged from the investigations carried out so far, the fire was started by a pile-up of plastic material (such as packaging and bottles) in the external area under the portico on the side facing the park. At that point, the flames reached the inside of the complex through the insulating material. The place most affected was the one for music lessons (Don Minzoni has a dedicated section).
