A TRUE WESTERN VILLAGE IN IRPINIA, THE EVENT OF THE SUMMER IN TORELLA DEI LOMBARDI (AVELLINO). “ANCIENT FLAVORS: FROM THE WILD WEST TO IRPINIA”
From tournaments to Saloon to horseback riding activities for little cowboys, for three days in Sergio Leone’s homeland, shows, family entertainment, music and much more all set in the wild west TORELLA DEI LOMBARDI (AVELLINO) –
The west arrives in Irpinia and does so with one of the most anticipated events of the summer: from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th June Torella dei Lombardi, Sergio Leone’s homeland, will be transformed into a western village on the occasion of the “Sapori Antichi” event : from the Wild West to Irpinia”. Shows, moments dedicated to the whole family, initiatives, entertainment: all the ingredients to experience three unforgettable days in the heart of Irpinia.
Promoted and organized by the Municipality of Torella dei Lombardi and by the Pro loco Candriano, with the artistic direction of Roberto D’Agnese for Omast Eventi, “Sapori Antichi: from the Wild West to Irpinia” will begin on Friday 28 June at 8pm with the opening of the village and food stands with traveling theater shows by M&S “The Arrival of JII” and “The Bounty Hunters”.
Followed by the blues duo Accttonaggio Molesto and presentation of the prize competition “The Good, the Ugly and the Irpino” curated by Enzo Costanza. At 8.30 pm, at the Western Village, Clementina, the fastest caricaturist in the west, will draw caricatures for free for visitors. At 9pm in Piazza Europa Go Go Gozilla, at 10pm in Piazza Sergio Leone concert by Dissonanthika.
On Saturday 29 June the program will begin at 7pm with “The war of secession according to Leone”, saloon chats with Stefano Jacurti edited by Roberto D’Agnese; at 8pm caricatures for everyone with Clementina at the Village, opening of stands and theater shows by M&S: “The robbery of the El Paso bank”, “The treasure hunt”, “Tomorrow they’ll hang him”. At the Village there will be music at 9.30pm with Stragatti, at 9pm in Piazza Europa The Baron’s Band while in Piazza Sergio Leone at 9.30pm Befolky and at 10.30pm La Banda della Posta. Sunday 30 June starts at 12 with “High Noon”, opening of the stand, entertainment for children with western themed games by M&S, traveling theater shows by M&S “Miranda, Mezzabotta and the explosion of the bridge”, “At the heart Ramon, at the heart”, “Bil Carson: between war and the smell of alcohol” and “Il Triello”.
Followed by themed dance performances by Dacing Queen. At 5pm “Dead Man’s Hand Poker”, poker tournament at the Saloon, at 6pm caricatures in the village with Clementina, at 8.30pm in Piazza Europa show with Sangria, while at 9pm at the Villaggio Demian Dominguez Band with Giampaolo Feola (drums) and Mino Berlano (bass).
At 9.30 pm in Piazza Sergio Leone the Rotarossa. During the day, a traveling western show by Arteteca, entertainment with “The horses in the village” and the Little Cowboy area with entertainment. “In just a few years we have transformed this festival into a regional attraction – explains the artistic director Roberto D’Agnese -. Last year we recorded around 20 thousand visitors in three days from all over Campania and other regions.
Today we have what it takes to imagine something more, such as a permanent western village for visitors but also a film set for short films, a place capable of developing tourism linked to this concept. From here we can start to give new life to the communities, just as we are doing with this event.”
