Montesilvano. The mystical tradition of the night of San Giovanni, the one between 23rd and 24th June, also extends to Montesilvano Colle, including wonders, oracles and predictions, ancient rites and sacred fires.
As part of the rediscovery of popular traditions, the Feast of San Giovanni will be celebrated, also thanks to the Lu Ramajette association – with magnificent typical costumes and traditional musical instruments – in the historic center of Montesilvano Colle, to experience first hand, immersed in the green of the pine forests high above the sea, the wonderful ancient time of sacred fires and “new waters”, when “ramajetti” were exchanged to become “cummare and cumpare a fiure”.
An evening of dancing around the fire of San Giovanni, of traditional music and songs, as well as a convivial dinner based on traditional products. The festive evening is free and open to all, but for logistical reasons the Ramajetto Exchange Rite can be done by a maximum of 100 couples (200 people) who will therefore become “Commari e Comari a Fiori”.
