UnipolSai Fortitudo baseball loses 2-0 against BSC Grosseto which increasingly proves to be the tipping point of the tournament, despite occupying the last position in Group A. However, L’Aquila maintains the top spot in Group A of Serie A, jointly with San Marino.
The Tuscan team is in fact winning important matches against the top teams in the class, shortening the ranking. On this day, the triumph in Race 1 of BSC Grosseto comes together with those of BBC Grosseto and Parmawith the consequent reduction of the distance between the leading pair and the ducals, and the last two of the class gaining two important victories.
Game1 – BSC Grosseto-Fortitudo 2-0
The game begins with defenses dominating the first two innings, with its starters capable of only allowing a couple of base balls. Both teams appear to be having great difficulty in being able to read their opponents’ throws.
In the top of the third inning, Agretti is the first athlete to manage to land a hitbut unfortunately it will also be the only one of the entire match for Fortitudo.
At the changeover, however, Grosseto scores. A base ball followed by two singles, they lead the hosts to 1-0. An almost unrecognizable Effe in the batter’s box fails to respond, and BSC Grosseto doubles.
Two more consecutive hits and a sacrifice fly they bring the score to 2-0 and force the Bolognese to change the pitcher. Federico Robles takes over Marc Civit and despite some difficulties in the fifth inning, he completed the match without conceding any further runs.
The defenses actually dominate more or less the entire matchwith only Fortitudo struggling a bit in the three central innings of the match, in which the home team’s victory points arrived.
The four hits and three base balls allowed by Civit in 3.1 innings played and the hit and two base balls allowed by Robles in 2.2 innings, they are not actually a great haul, but they are enough for the Tuscans to win.
Fortitudo’s attack, on the other hand, does not go beyond Agretti’s hit and collects 5 base balls diluted during the game. Really too little to avoid suffering a relative defeat shut-out.
