Consav celebrates 50 years and projects itself into the future

FAENZA. In 1974 it was founded as a cooperative, from the merger of members who belonged to two local consortia. Then the evolution over time with the expansion of activities and services, until reaching this year the last stage which projects the Faenza-based Consav and Carp (national and international transport company) towards the future thanks to the network contract for the transport of food liquids, of every type and nature, from ethyl alcohol to tomatoes, from chocolate to wine and derivatives.

Half a century of activity and a new challenge that Consav celebrated in recent days when it celebrated its 50th anniversary and at the same time the new project, a starting point for improving the competitiveness of a market increasingly dominated by large groups.

The occasion was given by the meeting organized at Villa Abbondanzi in Faenza where members, employees, stakeholders and authorities gathered to celebrate an important milestone and talk about their vision for the coming years. «We were born with a group of owners who saw a different future for this sector. And even today we represent a concrete example of how unity is strength: we have faced many difficulties and we know that every decade requires an adjustment. This is a sector that presents many weaknesses and critical issues: high maintenance costs, lack of generational turnover, regulatory bureaucracy and complexity, poorly controlled competition bordering on legality, regulations on corporate sustainability that require huge investments. We have built a solid reality and a community of people that is a point of reference. This goal represents a starting point that rewards everyone’s work”, declared Alessio Zuccherelli, president of Consav.

The new agreement provides for the creation of a unified specialized hub that can cover all types of goods and also intercept that part of the market that has not yet been reached. «The vision of the current partners and the founders, their commitment, the work done together showed us that the potential that this union could generate over time was remarkable. For us it was an opportunity to grow and also a cultural journey. When you join forces and transfer part of your singularity into a collective context, you try to offer only the best you have”, continued Laura Cattani, sales manager.

The event was also an opportunity to take stock of one of the main difficulties of the sector, such as uncontrolled competition: «The cooperative system is a particularity of the territory and a safeguard of legality. To underline this aspect, we recently intervened with the prefect, reporting spurious companies and cooperatives bordering on legality” stated Daniele Casadio of Legacoop.

In addition to the partnership project with Carp, Consav has spent the last year renewing its technical structures, completing, for example, the work on the new tank washing point, which has been blocked for about a year for bureaucratic reasons. «This is a story that belongs to us, it is the sum of many personal stories. The choice to apply the whole of Romagna to embrace the cooperative model with so much passion and commitment has created more well-being and less inequality, and it is precisely this philosophy that has allowed this cooperative to become what it is and to reach this point”, he said. supported Massimo Isola, mayor of Faenza.
