TERAMO. Yet another family inferno unleashed by a violent man was revealed by an investigation conducted by the police headquarters’ flying squad. A 44-year-old man, of Moroccan origin but resident for some time in Teramo, ended up in prison as he was held responsible for the crimes of mistreatment against family members and cohabitants, aggravated injuries and attempted non-consensual pregnancy termination.
On Tuesday, flying squad personnel executed the precautionary custody order in prison issued by the judge for preliminary investigations at the Teramo court, as part of an investigation coordinated by the local Public Prosecutor’s Office. According to the accusation, summarized in a note from the police headquarters, «the man is held responsible for having carried out continuous physical and psychological harassment to the detriment of his wife and five-year-old daughter. In particular, the suspect would have used to hit the two family members with slaps and punches, threatening his wife with death and isolating her from her social life. On one occasion, then, he would have forcefully grabbed her daughter, in a fit of anger, and would have slammed her against the wall. Furthermore, on another occasion, which occurred a few days ago, he allegedly hit her pregnant wife with slaps on the face and with two strong punches at her belly level, causing her to fall to the ground and causing injuries judged to be healable in 15 days” . Precisely this last episode, evidently, thanks to the medical report, brought to light the drama – unreported for too long – that was taking place in this family and set the institutions in motion.
