Head-on collision between motorbike and car, two spouses killed

The tranquility of the night was broken by a terrible accident on the Costanzo bridge, a vital artery that connects Ragusa in Modica. Two spouses, Giovanni Cascone, 57 years old, from Ragusa, and Angela Polizzi, 53 years old, originally from Ramacca but moved to Catania, lost their lives in a head-on collision.

The couple was traveling on a CF 700 motorbike headed towards Ragusa when, for reasons still under investigation, it violently collided with a Renault Clio.

The driver of the car was a young 28-year-old woman coming from the opposite direction, who suffered serious injuries, including some fractures. Fortunately, her condition is not considered critical, but she remains hospitalized for further evaluation.

The dynamics of the accident are still under investigation by the local authorities, who closed the stretch of road for several hours to allow the necessary investigations and to clean up the area following the devastating impact. The accident shook the local community, leaving a veil of sadness over the city.

The emergency services intervened promptly, but despite their efforts, there was nothing that the couple could do. The loss of these two lives on a quiet night reignites the debate on road safety and the importance of more stringent preventive measures, especially on road sections known for their danger.

The mayor of Ragusa expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, underlining the administration’s commitment to working to improve safety on the city’s roads.

Meanwhile, the community rallies around the victims’ families, remembering Giovanni and Angela as loved and respected people, whose absence leaves an unbridgeable void.
