Bad weather Piedmont: tornado causes damage in Bassignana

The weather situation on Piedmont it improved in the evening, with the storms now moving to the North-East. But today the region has been hit hard, with hail of large dimensions in the Cuneo and Turin areas and storms. But not only. The bad weather in Piedmont also produced a tornado today, in particular at Bassignana, in the province of Alessandria. It appears to have been a landspout-type tornado: it touched the ground for a few minutes but still managed to cause damage. Reports from the area indicate very heavy vases overturned and trees broken in a poplar field.

To Alexandria, the wind knocked down a plant near the Forlanini Bridge: the Fire Brigade cleared the road. A tree also fell on Astigliano road, between Valmadonna and Valenza, blocking the road. Furthermore, a Valmaccaagain in the Alessandria area, a strong hailstorm hit, with medium sized beans.
