the Gradual Protection Electricity Service starts on July 1st

From next Monday, July 1st, Hera Comm, a subsidiary of the Hera Group, will be the new electricity supplier for the approximately 15 thousand families in the province of Massa-Carrara who have not chosen free market offers and who are therefore currently served in the Maggior Tutela market. With the end of the protected market, these customers will automatically switch to the transitional service with Gradual Tutela, which will be provided by the Hera Group. The multi-utility has, in fact, won the tender called by the Single Buyer for the supply of citizens currently served by Maggior Tutela in 37 Italian provinces, including, in addition to Massa-Carrara, also the Tuscan provinces of Lucca and Arezzo. The conditions of the Gradual Tutele service, the same throughout Italy, are those defined by the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and the Environment (ARERA). The main components of the energy price will be two: a first part, which will be variable, is to cover the costs of energy supply, and will derive from the average of the wholesale market prices (Price Unico Nazionale – PUN). To this is added a fixed component, aimed at covering the marketing costs which, by virtue of the tender reductions, will result in savings for the customer compared to the current Maggior Tutela. As for billing, this will continue to be bimonthly. The transition from the current manager will be automatic, therefore without the need to sign a new contract and without any burden for citizens. Thanks to this automatism, which will also concern any bank domiciliations, continuity of electricity supply will be guaranteed to everyone. The arrival of the new manager will not affect customers defined as vulnerable by ARERA, for whom the Maggior Tutela service with the current supplier will remain active. Vulnerability is triggered by one of the following requirements: being 75 years old, being a beneficiary of social bonuses, having particular health conditions or being disabled, residing on minor islands not connected or in emergency homes following a disaster.

In the coming months, Hera Comm will evaluate the opening of a branch in the area, to be added to those already present in the center of Lucca, (via Cenami, 6) and in La Spezia, at the Kennedy Center, which will open on Tuesday 2 July. In the meantime, for customers currently in Maggior Tutela, Hera has activated a toll-free number (800.554.000) that they can call for any information on the transition in progress. Furthermore, a section dedicated to the end of electricity protection has been set up on the Hera Comm website. In approaching an important territory such as the province of Massa-Carrara, Hera will maintain the same service model that has made it one of the leading national energy managers: focus on customer service, through both remote channels (MyHera app, web, call center) and physical channels (over 160 branches throughout the country), rigorous ethical conduct in proposing its solutions and a strong propensity to accompany families and businesses towards renewable sources and energy efficiency, to support them on the path towards the decarbonization of consumption. Moreover, the Hera Group, a multi-utility with a majority public capital (111 municipal administrations hold approximately 45.8 percent), with a significant presence in the shareholding of funds oriented towards investments with an ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance & Economics) perspective, has sustainability as the guiding value of all areas of activity: waste management and treatment, water cycle, public lighting, distribution, sales and energy efficiency. These services are currently used by approximately 4.2 million citizens, distributed in over 310 Italian municipalities. The orientation towards sustainability is attested, among others, by two important evidences. Already today, 52% of the Group’s gross operating margin is “shared value”, that is, linked to activities that contribute to achieving the UN sustainability objectives for 2030 and, according to the industrial plan, by 2027 it will rise to 64%. Furthermore, since 2020 (with annual checks and renewals) the Hera stock has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (both European and global), an authoritative international stock market index, which includes the best listed companies in terms of performance in the ESG dimensions.
