Varese Young Eagles – Crocetti: “Expanding project, the marriage with Academy works. Now everyone at Camp!”

The sports season of Varese Young Eagles has just ended, the summer one is about to begin.

We took stock of the situation at the end of an intense and exciting year of basketball which saw the Bosina club involved with the Manager Vincenzo Crocetti.

What assessment can we make of the season?
“Definitely a positive balance both as regards Minibasketball and the Youth Sector. Speaking of Minibasketball, we have increased the number of members, while with respect to the Youth Sector we did the year with the Under 13-14 and 15s and all the kids from the three teams have already told us that they want to continue with us next year too despite the fact that there is no longer any sporting restriction from this summer.”

Speaking of numbers, how is the development of your project in collaboration with Varese Academy which, we remind you, concerns the Youth Sector proceeding?
“The numbers are good if we take into account that we are moving in an area like Varese, which sees the presence of Pallacanestro Varese and the Varese Basket School. The competition, therefore, is very strong, but despite everything, between Minibasketball and the Youth Sector we have around 200 members and in the meantime we aim to confirm these numbers and then try to make them grow, I repeat, always taking into account the territory in which we move and operate ”.

This will be the summer of reform and so I ask you what do you plan to do to convince some kids from outside to come to you to play?
“We have always made the choice to focus on the slogan “Grow with us”. We are perfectly aware that there are those who can reach higher and those less, but we have always tried to give all the children the best opportunities for growth and development, clearly based on their abilities, without ever leaving no one back. The possibility of offering a path either in Varese Young Eagles or in Varese Academy at Youth Sector level is very important. This collaboration has led us to have 4 of our boys who, in the last two years, have won the Under 15 championship and made the Under 19 National Finals.”

So is this marriage bearing fruit?
“Absolutely yes. At this moment, those who come to us know they will find a stimulating environment in which they can play and have fun.”

What could the objectives be for next year?
“At this moment, when it is easy to spend money or give in with a sports reform that puts ASD clubs like us in great difficulty, we want to continue pursuing the path that has kept us moving forward for 25 years, that is, the one in which every child is put first, continuing our small but constant expansion.”

Will you be recruiting in the summer?
“No, it’s not in our policy. We will work to structure ourselves in the best possible way to offer an even better growth path to those who will remain with us next year.”

But before thinking about the new season it’s time for summer camp…
“Absolutely yes. Our camp, developed together with Pallacanestro Virtus Luino, will begin on Sunday 23 June and will last for two consecutive weeks in Bormio for children aged 6 to 14. Already 80 have signed up and we are very happy with the response we have received. Two weeks of fun and work await us.”
