AVEZZANO – There are 10 points, 10 pieces of advice that may appear to be mere common sense, but which are often overlooked with consequences for one’s safety when going to the mountains, or for the environment in which one finds oneself at that moment.

There Salviano Regional Reserve has decided to adopt and promote the “Handbook for Mountain Safety” elaborated and distributed, in recent days, by the offices of the Prefecture of L’Aquila throughout the territory.

It is a map, summarized in an intuitive and interactive brochure, capable of providing those “rules”, better defined as instructions, for those who love the mountains and go on excursions in particular areas and with relevant flora and fauna beauties, to protect themselves and the nature that surrounds us.

First of all, the preparation for the excursion, from the careful and careful preparation of the backpack and equipment, as well as the choice of the itinerary based on one’s preparation and technical and physical ability.

Never go on an excursion alone and leave detailed information on the place and route you will be taking to those at home.

But also rules of conduct, such as finding out about the protected species present, both of plants and flowers and of wild animals, and avoiding lighting fires outside the indicated areas.

Last but not least, take care of your own safety, so turn back immediately if the weather conditions become adverse and stop to help if you encounter someone who is in difficulty and/or injured

And speaking of help, on the brochure there is a QR Code with which, by framing it with the smartphone camera, it is possible to connect immediately and directly to the “112 Where Are U” app to call the single European emergency number 112 and the website Aware Mountain of the Abruzzo Region, with info and insights.

Finally, the offices of the Salviano Reserve will take maximum care of the dissemination of this brochure in their territory, in order to guarantee visits in complete safety for hikers and visitors, with total respect for the environment.
