The woman who was with her boss nephew killed in Bari has been released from prison

Angela De Cosmo, 35 years old, the woman who was in the car with Raffaele ‘Lello’ Capriati on the evening of last April 1st, is released back into freedomwhen the man was killed in an ambush in the Torre a Mare neighborhood south of Bari. Capriati was the nephew of the Bari Vecchia boss Antonio and was considered by investigators to be a “prominent figure of the mafia clan of the same name”.

The woman is accused of illegal possession and carrying of a firearm in a public place, with the aggravating circumstance of mafia. The release was ordered by the Review Court of Bari (president Annachiara Mastrorilli) who, accepting the appeal of the lawyer Pino Giulitto, annulled the precautionary custody order issued on 3 June by the investigating judge Francesco Vittorio Rinaldi at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office.

According to what was reconstructed by the staff of the Bari flying squad who conducted the investigations, after the shooting the woman waited for the ambulance to arrive and then fled by car, taking with him the gun held by Capriati. “The statements made by the eyewitnesses of the incident were essential for the reconstruction of the facts – according to the police”.

The woman’s lawyer, according to whom during the interrogation the suspect would have answered all the investigating judge’s questions, rejecting the accusations, insisted on the absence of serious indications of guilt. The review Court set the deadline for filing the reasons for the provision at 45 days.
