Luciano Ellies kills his wife Ignazia Tumatis

First the furious argument, then the stabbings. Tragedy in the night in Cagliari. At the height of an argument, Luciano Ellies, 77, killed his wife, 59-year-old Ignazia Tumatis. It happened in a building in via Podgora, in the San Michele district. According to an initial reconstruction, the man – who is now in custody – would have used a kitchen knife to hit his wife several times in the back. The woman had no escape: the 118 intervention was useless. The husband must now answer for voluntary manslaughter.

The crime took place shortly after 11pm on Thursday 20 June. The couple’s daughters raised the alarm on the single emergency number. Worried, they went to their parents’ house: there they found their mother lying in a pool of blood and their father standing, in shock. “He laughed in my face and I never saw him again”, were the man’s only words.

The police flying squad officers who intervened on site are investigating to reconstruct exactly what happened. The couple was alone at home when the crime took place.

And a few hours ago a woman was killed by her husband with a gunshot in their home in Viale Giotto, in Arezzo. Another femicide, the trail of blood doesn’t stop.
