In the presence of President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and the Nobel Prize winner for physics Giorgio Parisi, Antonella Tramutola, neurobiologist at the Sapienza University of Rome, was awarded the ‘Antonio Feltrinelli Giovani’ award reserved for Italian citizens for biological sciences.
There researcher from Potenza, born in 1984, is no stranger to recognition.
It had already been assigned to her in 2017 a prestigious research grant from the Umberto Veronesi Foundation and, still in the same year, she was awarded the ‘2017 SIB Medal’ by the Italian Society of Biochemistry.
The search for Dr. Tramutola develops on the study of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Down syndrome.
His work focuses on oxidative stress and problems related to protein degradation, examining how these contribute to Alzheimer’s-like dementia both in the general population and in people with Down syndrome.
A awarded for his ‘excellent research activity’ which has been carrying on for over 10 years with intense passion, so much so that he has contributed to research with over 53 scientific publications.
There is no shortage of conference activities where her presence is requested, but she also made herself available promoter of the latest international conference on Down syndrome held in Rome from 5 to 8 June 2024.
