Milan protagonist of the transfer rumors. While waiting for the new striker, the Rossoneri have to make some possible redundancies
There is no transfer summer without a catchphrase for the Milan. This year it’s the turn of Joshua Zirkzee. Negotiations to bring the Dutch striker to the Rossoneri seemed well underway with Milan intending to pay the 40 million clause to release him from Bologna. Then the stalemate.
At stake are the 15 million commission that Milan does not want to pay to Zirkzee’s agent, that Kia Joorabchian who once again becomes the protagonist in a transfer deal involving the Rossoneri twelve years after the negotiation that involved Carlos Tevez.
Despite the difficulties, Zirkzee remains the top priority for Milan in attack. The other targets, Dovbyk above all, are on standby waiting to understand if Joorabchian will lower his demands on him. Rossoneri attack that will also welcome some players returning from their respective loans and, for whom, the club will seek new accommodation. A decision that will also depend on the choices of Fonseca who, presumably, could coach some of them in the initial stages of the pre-season training camp.
Milan, another farewell for the striker: he will remain in Serie A
Alexis Saelemakers, Daniel Maldini, Divock Origi, Marko Lazetic and Lorenzo Colombo they are the four attackers who will return to Milan. If we exclude Saelemakers and Maldini, for the other three, last season was anything but satisfactory.
Protagonist of the salvation obtained with Lecce in the 2022-23 championship, Colombo did not find space and continuity in Palladino’s Monza. After a good first part of the season with three goals to his credit, in 2024, Colombo often ended up on the bench with only two games as a starter since January. Only one goal for him, against Milan, in the 4-2 in favor of the Brianza team last February 18th.
We’ll see what Milan’s choice will be. Colombo, in fact, continues to have a market in Serie A. In particular there would be the Cagliari on his trail. The Sardinians, waiting to announce the new coach Davide Nicola, are already exploring possible reinforcements.
One of these could be Columbus himself who would go to replace Andrea Petagna, who will return to Monza after the rossoblu’s failure to redeem him. For technical characteristics, Colombo represents the ideal alternative to the former Rossoneri with Cagliari aiming for another loan. Meanwhile, the Sardinians, still attacking, are close to signing the Belgian winger Jari Vandeputtereturning from an excellent season with Catanzaro in Serie B with 9 goals and 14 assists in 39 appearances between the regular season and playoffs.
