In Varese, Gallarate and Busto Arsizio there are centers that help citizens with digital activities

There are three centers in the province of Varese included in the network of digital facilitation services of the Lombardy Region. They are located in Varese in Piazza Repubblica 25, in Busto Arsizio in piazzaVolontari della Libertà 3 and in Gallarate in via San Giovanni Bosco 113.

These are points that provide Lombard citizens with all the tools necessary to effectively increase their digital skills.

«We live immersed in digital technologies – said the regional councilor for Education, Training and Work Simona Tironi – but there are still many people who have not acquired the necessary familiarity with digital. Yet, starting from the Health Record, continuing with the SPID (Public Digital Identity System), useful in various circumstances, and continuing with the forms for requesting certificates or bank statements available only in electronic form,Using these tools has now become an indispensable requirement for accessing the various services available to citizens. Once again, the Lombardy Region stands alongside those in need of concrete support and provides a widespread network of help desks to which those who still consider themselves inexperienced in digital matters can have access. In fact, no one must be left behind.”

The tender linked to the ‘Digitale Facile’ project, promoted by the Lombardy Region, aims to spread a conscious use of the internet and new technologies, promoting, at the same time, the full enjoyment of the rights of active digital citizenship, digital inclusion, autonomy in the use of the internet and digital services. In particular, information content will be made available to citizens that allow them to acquire the basic skills to approach the digital world effectively.

In particular, The Lombardy Region will activate, by 2025, 424 facilitation points to train 341,000 citizens. The information service can currently be accessed through the Facilitation Points already open and available at this link.

According to a 2023 Istat report, digital skills in Italy and many European countries are characterized by important gaps linked to the socio-cultural characteristics of the population. 61.7% of young people aged between 20 and 24 living in Italy who have used the internet have at least basic digital skills. However, this share decreases rapidly with age to reach 42.2% in the age group between 55-59 years old and finally reaching 19.3% among people aged 65-74 years.

Another relevant element that emerged from the report is the fact that this level of skills is characterized by a strong disparity in favor of men. Specifically in our country the gap is 3.1 percentage points. However, at least up to 34 years of age, there is a female advantage which then decreases starting from 45 years of age.
