The ex Ila park in Legnano celebrates its centenary, the program for Sunday 23 June

The former Ila park in Legnano celebrates its centenary with a program full of events scheduled for Sunday 23 June. Sunday’s is the third moment, after the two conferences between March and April, in the program of the Centenary of Legnano Città dedicated to the former Sanatorium and its park; it will be presented in the autumn the outcome of the solarium recovery works currently underway.

On 19 June 1924, in the presence of the Queen Mother Margherita of Savoy, the mayor Fabio Vignati and the engineer Carlo Jucker, director of the Cantoni Cotton Mill, the Regina Elena di Savoia Sanatorium was inaugurated. Designed by engineers Giulio Brini and Simone Roveda, technicians from the Cantoni Cotonificio, the Sanatorium was inspired by the models of structures for the treatment of tuberculosis active in Northern Europe. To remember the moment in which Legnano was equipped with a cutting-edge care facility of recognized architectural value, the mayor Lorenzo Radice with the members of the Centenary Committee of the former Ila Park will proceed with the unveiling of the plaque created for the anniversary and placed at the entrance to the complex in via Colli di Sant’Erasmo. Following this, the AED defibrillator station serving the structure will be inaugurated and the Scout house located inside the park will be named after the “Fathers of Legnano scouting”.

Plan

An official moment is scheduled for 9.30 with the unveiling of the centenary plaque. Followed by walks, guided tours and games. In particular, the Ciceroni Volunteers group from Legnano will be present on the day dedicated to the park, with visits at 10.00 am and 3.30 pm, to accompany you in discovering the history and curiosities of the place in question
