There are truly many events at Matta Aperto 2024, a program full of events that will start in June and end in September.
Ideally starting from the Spazio Matta in Pescara to extend to a series of places, spaces and environments spread along the urban territory of the city of Pescara, the Matta#Aperto exhibition, 2024 edition, in the wake of that search for common and unifying meanings for citizens , which has always animated the Artisti per il Matta network, promoter of the event.
The original vocation is confirmed and strengthened for the current edition, that of giving life to artistic initiatives in dialogue between inside and outside with respect to the urban area of the Spazio Matta, home of the Artists for the Matta network, hosted by the former Mattatoio of Via Gran Sasso, in collaboration with cultural and social institutions and associations in the city.
The event, born from the need to guarantee spectators, during the pandemic, greater safety from contagion, has brought out new ways of promoting and enjoying culture, which focus on a more direct involvement of citizens. Artistic workshops and outdoor shows, in parks or along the river, push the public to rediscover and experience the city from other points of view, just as it stimulates artists and curators to question themselves more deeply on the meaning of citizen involvement both both for the themes and for the interaction methods. The 2024 edition is dedicated to Danilo Dolci sociologist, poet, educator and non-violence activist whose centenary of birth marks the centenary of his birth. Dolci leaves us as a legacy many elements that are more contemporary than ever: peace education, the value of participation, non-violent communication, conscious information, ecological thinking. Matta#Aperto 2024 is part of the program promoted by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers for the urban redevelopment and safety of the suburbs of the City of Pescara.
The activities are carried out in collaboration with: National Dance Academy, Arci Pescara, Luisa d’Annunzio Conservatory of Music, ARIA Foundation, CSV Abruzzo, Caritas Pescara Penne Foundation, LAAD Association, Pescara Social Lab, Pescarabruzzo Foundation, Danilo Dolci Study Center.
