The efforts of the police continue to stem the phenomenon of illegal parking in Catania. Both the Carabinieri and the police have been involved in various services to repress the phenomenon.



The agents of the Borgo Ognina police station, in Piazza Spirito Santo, have reported a foreign person, caught carrying out the activity of a harassing illegal parking attendant, who also did not have a residence permit. he is a 48-year-old Moroccan, irregular on the territory of the State, with numerous criminal records and against whom the Police Commissioner’s order to abandon the territory of the Italian State was issued last May 15th. He was reported and transferred to the CPR of Caltanissetta, where he will remain awaiting expulsion from the territory of the Italian State.






The carabinieri of the Piazza Dante and Ognina stations, coordinated by the Operations Center and with the support of colleagues from the 12th “Sicilia” Regiment, checked the main squares of the centre, surprising two people from Catania, a 43-year-old and a 22-year-old, between Piazza San Placido and via Dusmet intent on “helping” motorists to maneuver and, immediately afterwards, waiting for some coins in return as compensation. The Public Security Authority had issued a one-year ban on them from accessing the parking areas in Piazza San Placido and the areas in the surrounding area and near the AMT stops.



The failure to comply with the provision earned the two “convinced parking attendants” a complaint to the Judicial Authority for violation of art. 10 of Legislative Decree no. 14/2017 “DACUR”.

The CC patrols then moved to Piazza Federico di Svevia where they surprised two other illegal car parkers, a 43-year-old local man, who had already been reported for illegally practicing the profession of car parker and a 39-year-old from Catania, who was also already a recipient of a ban on access to that square and the surrounding areas.
