He was called Claudio Zappa the cyclist who yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 19 June, was hit and killed by a concrete mixer in the streets of Rho (in the Metropolitan City of Milan). According to what emerged from the investigations carried out by local police officers, the 72-year-old was walking along Corso Europa when, at the intersection with via del Majno, was hit by the heavy vehicle. The driver was a 42-year-old who was taken to hospital in severe shock.
The accident occurred a few minutes before 5.30pm on June 19. The Carabinieri are working together with the local police to reconstruct the dynamics of the crash, but the first findings would already provide fairly clear elements. Zappa was cycling along Corso Europa when he visited swept up.
According to some witnesses, the 72-year-old he was about to turn at the intersection with via del Majno when the concrete mixer hit him. When the rescuers from the Regional Emergency Emergency Agency arrived, with an ambulance and a medical vehicle, the elderly man was already dead. The health workers have confirmed his death and gave first aid to the driver of the heavy vehicle. The man, a 42-year-old, was then transported to hospital under code green because struck by an illness.

It seems that the concrete mixer had recently left from a construction site in the area. Both the heavy vehicle and the cyclist were traveling in the same direction, towards Legnano. The police will have to understand how it was possible the clash between the two and whether this could have been avoided in any way. To carry out the investigations, the road was closed to traffic for several hours.
