Piedmont, many nurse rankings still blocked

The rankings of nurses in the maxi public competition that took place in Piedmont last February are still blocked, with an appeal pending before the Regional Administrative Court presented by two candidates for alleged irregularities in the conduct of the oral exams. The administrative judges had however rejected the request to suspend the competition and, pending the ruling next November, had in the meantime authorized the regional ASL Azienda Zero, organizer of the competition, to proceed regularly with hiring so as to satisfy the needs in the meantime.

Azienda Zero invites you to hire, but the local health authorities move in no particular order

The rankings of nurses in the maxi public competition that took place in Piedmont have been blocked.

Taking into account the serious shortage of nursing staff in the departments and clinics of Piedmontese healthcare facilities, Azienda Zero had therefore urged, since 5 June with two explanatory notes, Piedmontese healthcare and hospital companies to scroll through the ranking resulting in 226 winners and 1957 eligible candidates.

However, the various local health authorities are proceeding differently and with caution, by virtue of the autonomy conferred by the law, as they fear that the TAR may issue a negative ruling next November and that the competition may be cancelled. Due to the uncertainties of a sub judice provision, it appears that at least one local health authority is making new hires sign an unfair clause.

A ranking of 400 nurses, the longest, involves the ASL City of Turin which however will only hire 60 for the moment. The hospitals of the City of Health of Turin, including the “Molinette”, should hire 239 suitable ones, of which 102 hirings decided and 67 completed.

They would also be ready to hire the hospitals of Alessandria, Biella, Cuneo and Novara, but they are encountering difficulties as some of the candidates are only available for hiring once the judicial proceedings have been concluded.

Despite the uncertainties, the signing of contracts in six hospitals (Orbassano, Novara, Asti, Alessandria, Torino3 and Torino5) should be imminent. The Mauriziano hospital will not hire until it finishes drawing nurses from a previous ranking. They have instead decided to not to hire four healthcare facilities until the final judgment of the TAR: the Cuneo Hospital and the Cuneo 1, Vercelli and VCO local health authorities.
