The ranking for the “Connections, new places for innovation” tender, published by the regional Department of Productive Activities, has been approved. A measure that allocates 5.6 million in favor of those companies that intend to undertake a path of modernization both in the business model and in access to advanced technologies. Twenty project proposals have arrived and, of these, ten have been approved and will be financed. Two others, although considered valid, have been excluded at the moment due to lack of resources.

«Relaunching the economy of our island through support for productive entities – says the President of the Region, Renato Schifani – is a cornerstone of my government’s programme. Only in this way will we be able to respond to the structural crisis of our economic system and face the challenges of global competition. With this measure, we give space to innovation, to increase productivity, improve effectiveness and make Sicily increasingly attractive to new market needs. A measure that is part of the “Sicily Competitiveness” package with which we hope to make a substantial contribution to the development and creation of new jobs.”

«Sicily is a fertile land for innovation: this is demonstrated by the great interest aroused by this notice, which has brought out the fervor that animates the Sicilian entrepreneurial fabric – states the regional councilor for Productive Activities, Edy Tamajo -. A ferment that the Schifani government has been able to grasp and fuel. With “Connessioni”, the Region aims to support the competitiveness of businesses, facilitating the meeting between demand and supply of innovation, encouraging the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, creating new places for innovation, real safeguards capable to stimulate the growth of businesses, strengthen their interconnections and increase the attractiveness of the Sicilian territories”.

The non-refundable subsidies are equal to 65 percent of the investment. The contribution is provided to create or develop places of innovation, physical and virtual, such as incubators, accelerators, co-working spaces, dedicated to the establishment of new businesses and capable of offering entrepreneurial support, networking activities, consultancy on the business, access to advanced services and technologies. The notice is part of the package of “Competitiveness Sicily” measures, launched by the Schifani government to support the growth of the Sicilian production system.
