All-round triumph for Canottieri Varese, Morello: “4 gold and 2 silver tip of the iceberg. Perfect organisation”

Strong emotions at Schiranna for the COOP Italian Championships, Light weights, Pararowing And Under19 staged over the weekend between Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June under the organizational aegis of the Varese rowers which, once again, confirms itself as a leader within the Italian and global panorama (as certified by FIC president Giuseppe Abbagnale during the presentation).

Canottieri Varese protagonist at a bureaucratic level, but also and above all in the water: the overall result was four gold and two silver of the yellow-blue expedition, results that enormously gratify the work of the company Mauro Morello. “We achieved a great resultthe president agreesthe tip of the iceberg which confirms that the team path we have chosen is correct for our colours, our history and above all for our splendid boys who I am proud to represent“.

The number one of the Canottieri Varese also rightly underlines the immense work of the organizational machine: “We organized an Italian championship in almost impossible conditions; since I have been president, now fifteen years, I don’t remember so much water falling for so long. Unfortunately we have not been able to ensure the organizational quality that we want to distinguish us for obvious reasons, the water still laps our headquarters, the beach is now a lake, the equipment on the ground could not be installed and we are sorry. However, I believe that the athletes competed on an important competition field which did not fail to ensure equal conditions for all participants, excellent conditions even in the rain“.

Then there is space for the protagonist athletes, starting with Lightweight women’s doubles who finished in front of everyone thanks to the monstrous performance of Matilde Barison And Giulia Mingemi with the latter declaring: “It was my first non-singles championship, but there was chemistry with Matilde right from the start. In the race we took an advantage right from the start and led it to the end. I am also happy to have made this decision to move to Canottieri Varese at the beginning of the year“. Not to be outdone was the PL men’s four sculls who won gold with Angelo Boleso, Alexander Wells, Nicolò Demiliani And Lorenzo Ossola.

Double triumph also repeated in U19 with the twins Arianna and Emma Tosi that have established themselves in two without and it is Emma Tosi herself who relives the regatta: “The race went very well, we managed to stay in front right from the start even if we suffered a bit in the final part for fear of a possible catch-up by our opponents at the end. We are very happy and satisfied“. On the shields, then, theeight male which, helmed by Riccardo Doniwon the finish line with a time of 5’59”17: applause and gold medal therefore for Lorenzo Brega, Leonidas Arra, Cristian Maineri, Lorenzo Cracco, Tommasco Cinquantini, Philip Rossi, Thomas MorelloAnd Axel Ghersi.

Doni was then “loaned” to the four with u19 from Lario (which was dyed gold), while the two silver medals brought the signature of the senior men’s doubles (with the return to the boat of Maichol Brambilla, eight months after shoulder surgery, together with Luca Enea Mulas) and the men’s eight PL (Mazzonetto, White Luvisoni, Zampieri, Root, Bottinelli, Isella, Dancer, Spolon And Nicholas Fanchi at the helm).

In other words, a total success for Canottieri Varese which can now concentrate on the next upcoming events: between 5 and 7 July it will be the turn of the Youth Festivalwhile on the weekend of 13/14 July it will be the turn of Italian U23 Championships, U17 and Beginners.
