Jazz& Image returns again this year, in the splendid scenery of the Celio Park, a stone’s throw from the Colosseum, curated by the Suond Image Cultural Association, with the artistic direction of Eugenio Rubei’s Alexanderplatz, from 21 June to 22 September 2024 The project is promoted by Roma Capitale – Department of Culture, is the winner of the biennial Public Notice “Estate Romana 2023-2024” curated by the Cultural Activities Department and is carried out in collaboration with SIAE.

Three months of programming, after last year’s record edition, Jazz& Image Live at Colosseo, in this new 2024 edition, renews last year’s winning formula, namely the club festival, in a spectacular and unique setting in front of the Colosseum and consolidates the collaboration with another historic club of the capital, the Big Mama. This year both Alexanderplatz and Big Mama celebrate 40 years of activity. The union of these two worlds has brought highly positive results and the festival’s programming is the fruit of this collaboration. A festival for everyone, not just for jazz enthusiasts, an open space, with great artistic quality and with musicians never before heard in Rome. The catering service is also of a high standard, where it will be possible to dine, tasting high quality products with a view of the Colosseum. Every Sunday for lunch the “Jazz Brunch”. In the afternoon and early evening, showcases, book presentations, readings, aperitif.

Great international artists and the best of Italian jazz, present in the program Dayna Stephens who will open the Festival, Noa, Frank Gambale, Lorenzo Hengeller, Aimeeè Nuviola, Jeremy Pelt, Toninho Horta, Andy James, Eddie Gomez, Sherman Irby & Darril Green, Frank McComb, Ery Yamamoto, Enrico Pieranunzi, Andrea Satta, singer of Tetes de Bois with his solo project, Rosario Giuliani, Javier Girotto & Aires Tango, who celebrate thirty years of music in the traditional Ferragosto concert, Roberto Gatto, Francesco Bearzatti, solo to name a few. The semi-final of the prestigious Lunezia Prize and the New York Prize. Of note, on the closing day of the Festival, Sunday September at 12.30, the Jazz Orchestra Che Desir – L’Aquila directed by Maestro Pasquale Innarella, composed of children aged 8 to 18, born in 2022 and based on an educational model which, by stimulating the creativity of young musicians, uses orchestral practice as a means to achieve objectives, not only of artistic value, but also of integration, respect for others, overcoming inequalities and a spirit of collaboration. For the high socio-educational importance recognized, as well as for the added value in the fight against poverty and youth hardship, the Jazz Orchestra Che Desir – L’Aquila was included among the projects in the application dossier which allowed L’Aquila to obtain the recognition of Italian Capital of Culture 2026. The project is entirely free, thanks to the commitment and support of the Municipality of L’Aquila, the A. Casella Conservatory and the Teatro Opera Project ETS Association.
