Under the cover of his iPhone Bruno Cidoni, the Calabrian transplanted to Catania who ended up in handcuffs for drug trafficking, kept the image of the Madonna of the Polsi sanctuary. The Catania police officers discovered this by making a seizure at the end of December 2020. This is where the name of the raid that took place last night came from and which led to 13 arrests between Catania and Reggio Calabria. Cidoni is not just anyone. In his past he did business with big shots of the San Luca ‘ndrine. Even in 2004 he was a partner in a construction company with Ciccio Pelle Pakistan.
But how did we manage to reconstruct the business of Cidoni, who had Antonio Pezzano as his very close collaborator? The police monitored the house of Carmelo Scilio “aricchiazzi” – who was under house arrest at the time – and the cameras caught Cidoni’s face. From here a new line of investigation was opened which documented at least 20 shipments of cocaine.
There is a watershed moment. That is, the arrest of Francesco Sedici, a drug courier, on 4 November 2011. Until that day, cocaine arrived at night and in the evening in cars equipped with compartments to hide the narcotic substance. And the drugs were processed directly at Cidoti’s home, in via Beata Giovanna Jugan in the San Giovanni Galermo district. Following Sedici’s capture, the shipments arrived in Catania aboard articulated lorries. Even if this method has increased the price of the loaves. And the operational base was transferred to Via Tellaro in San Giorgio to the home of Pietro Sedici, son of the courier who had ended up in jail.
