Gargano. If in Itria Valley the fate of the world is discussed, in the same days of G7, but on the Gargano, much more… binding commitments were made: the first Indian wedding was in fact celebrated. The Gujarati Prince chose the beach of Vieste, of the Gattarella resort, to celebrate his unforgettable birthday with his bride. A trend that confirms the appeal of Italian style in the world and in particular among Indian dignitaries: even the “king of iron” Ambani, one of the richest men on the planet, chose Portofino to get married.

The Gargano event confirms the growing trend of foreign presences choosing the sea of Puglia to swear eternal love after falling in love with the promontory.

In fact, next to popular destinations such as Lake Como, Venice or the Amalfi Coast, the demand for more particular locations and lesser-known landscapes like those offered is increasing from the Gargano National Parkwhich stands out both for the beauty and variety of its places, and for the size and quality standards of the coastal accommodation facilities.

«The Indian wedding, in particular, requires specific organization because it is made up of several rituals that take place on different days and spaces», explains Gino Notarangelo sole administrator of the Gattarella Resort. «A ceremony of this type requires large and varied locations in the same structure which allow the fascinating Hindu ceremonies to be framed in the best possible way. For example – adds Notarangelo – our organization has set up the traditional one Mandap, the wedding canopy that welcomes the newlyweds, on the terrace overlooking the sea from which you can see Vieste in the background during which the couple turns around the Sacred Fire seven times, exchanging wedding vows. And we celebrated the European Symbolic rite directly on the beach.”

Weddings, the Indian ones, almost always have many guests, from 150 to 300 guests, and the socialization between the respective relatives and friends is considered an integral part of the wedding: in this sense it can making a difference the possibility of having large structures such as most of the Gargano structures, which offer locations immersed in nature. In this way, guests experience the hospitality of the place, hang out with each other during the day, have the opportunity to get to know each other and stay together for the entire time of the ceremony, taking into account that the average duration of an Indian wedding is three days.

«The discovery of the territory also plays a fundamental role in the choice of Gargano as Wedding Destination», says Notarangelo again. «Planning and proposing always bears fruit: our Indian spouses and their guests enthusiastically appreciated the coast of Vieste, the sea caves and the Umbra Forestsharing these moments on their social accounts and helping to spread the images of our territory also in London, the city where the spouses live”.

Affinities have even emerged between Indian and Apulian cultures. «We share the same 5 sense feeling – adds Maria Rosa De Palma, internationalization manager – the taste for food, the scent of spices, aromatic candles and flowers, the captivating music of the dances, the liveliness of the colours, the soft fabrics and embroidered… But also the sacred respect for the elements of nature: water, wind, earth, fire that refers to the sun in the sky and to the domestic hearth.”

There is also a curiosity regarding the olive tree: near Bassi, in Rajasthan, its leaves are harvested to obtain a fine Indian tea.

«An intense and indelible experience not only for our guests, but also for us who participated in their ceremonies and shared their joy, almost as if we were part of their family. We can say that India has officially said its yes to the Gargano and we hope that the flights and transfers can increasingly help to keep this promise”, concludes Gino Notarangelo.
