It was inaugurated this afternoon, following the completion of construction and partial adaptation works, the Cosenza-Sibari connecting road, the section between the A3 Tarsia exit and the SS 106 bis.
“A path that I have followed since the act of my inauguration, giving an impulse and an acceleration to works that were going too slowly and that today, finally, sees the conclusion of the works” – commented the President Rosaria Succurro, highlighting that “it is an important transversal that connects the City of Cosenza to the City of Corigliano-Rossano, which is why it deserved all the attention that we as a Province have reserved for it; without forgetting all the needs of the provincial territory to which we always turn with a careful eye, but with priority of intervention on the basis of a timetable that constantly takes into account the urgencies and the technical and road safety priorities”.
What is evident, according to Rosaria Succurro, is that «the Province is a virtuous and above all proactive body and the opening of so many roads is evidence that the reopening of an important road like the Cosenza-Sibari is not a sporadic event, it is not the first and it will not be the last and thanks to the planning in place the following months will see the opening of other road arteries».
The intervention starts from the SP Diga di Tarsia, ending at the crossroads for Terranova da Sibari. The works affected the sections of the SP 197 respectively included in the following kilometres:
- dal Km. 0+00.00 al Km. 1+320.00;
- from Km. 3+480.00 to Km. 5+160.00;
for a total of approximately 3+00 km;
More specifically, the intervention carried out consists of 2 tunnels, located respectively between the progressives 0+695.00 Km. and 0+833.00 Km. for a length of 138.00 m (Diga di Tarsia tunnel) and between the progressives 4+429.60 Km. and 4+640.40 Km. for a length of 210.80 m (Serra Castello tunnel).
Support works were also carried out at the tunnel entrances (bulkheads with large diameter piles and attachment template) and a retaining wall between Km. 1+182.00 and Km. 1+240.00, for a total length of 58.00 m. In addition, these works included the lengthening and structural restoration of the hydraulic crossings present along the entire route. The amount of the works at the starting bid was €10,963,532.83.
