Differentiated autonomy, yes from the Chamber: it is law

Final green light from the Chamber of Deputies for the bill on differentiated autonomy. “For a more efficient and more modern Italy, with less waste and more services for all citizens, from North to South: after many years of battles and commitment, despite the lies and attacks from the left, thanks to the League and the government the Autonomy requested by millions of Italians was also approved this morning in the Chamber and is finally law. A victory for all Italians: Thank you. So does the minister Matteo Salvinisecretary of the League, on Instagram.

The reaction of the opposition

United oppositions sang the Mameli anthem and waved the tricolor during the final vote while the flags of the Serenissima emerged from the League benches. “A measure that divides and creates inequalities which is approved at night in shame. With this vote you establish that there are first-class and second-class citizens”, said the secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schleinin the final vote declaration.

“We have just finished a long night in Parliament to approve differentiated autonomy. We obviously opposed it in every way: a differentiated autonomy that divides the country. There will be more bureaucracy and more inequalities,” she writes in a post on Facebook at the end of the river la session MP of Italia Viva Maria Elena Boschi, who adds: “The majority approved this text overnight with a caterpillar attitude: the more we demonstrated that things didn’t make sense, the further they went. Too bad, a missed opportunity. Good morning to all of you. Good night to the institutions,” he concludes.

“The approval of differentiated autonomy does this inauspicious day for the whole country. The effects will be seen in the coming months: school, environment, healthcare, social policies: everything will be fragmented and those who are already further behind will fall into the abyss. These are not predictions from Cassandra, unfortunately it is written in black and white in the law. The government’s triumphalist narrative will not serve to hide the reality.” Thus the vice president of the Chamber Sergio Costa (M5S).

“Azione has created a serious, constructive opposition, without however finding any space for dialogue on the part of the majority, which has entrenched itself on a closed proposal which we believe is harmful to the country. But given this, the answer is not to go to the streets and use those of the opposition against the slogans of the majority. We have done serious parliamentary work and highlighted all the contradictions of this majority, which exist and have emerged. This law will be harmful to the country and we will continue to try to change it, because we are paid not to go to the streets but to work in Parliament”, he commented the vice-president of Action, Elena Bonettiin Agora.

The majority

“Today, more than ever, it is clear that differentiated autonomy is the best choice for Italy’s future, a dream that becomes reality, loudly requested by Venetians and Lombards with the 2017 referendums. While the left continued to instrumentally oppose the implementation of the Reform of Title V of the Constitution, the League and the center-right in the Government, after last night’s river session, they rewrote history, definitively approving the Calderoli bill. A great result which now, through agreements with the Regions, will be able to bring new materials for the administrations that want to seize this fundamental opportunity. Greater skills and accountability of local administrators for their action, rationalization of spending, costs and standard needs by eliminating the criterion of historical spending and with the Lep, national guarantees for social services essential to combat social inequalities. Implementation of a reform that unites and does not divide,” he declared Massimo Bitonci (Lega), undersecretary of Mimitpresent in the chamber between the Government benches during all the proceedings of the chamber.

“The Premiership passes to the Senate and, after the river session, also the Differentiated Autonomy to the Chamber, the measures that triggered the opposition resorted, now as usual, to shouts and insults in an attempt to block them. What they don’t want or can’t accept the left, after years of inaction with governments built on the table, technical or with unnatural coalitions, is that the current majority of Italians have been given the mandate to ‘do’. Then we will judge what has been achieved, but what they do voters would certainly not forgive this government would be to fall back into the inaction of previous governments, once again condemning our country to that political lethargy which is combined with the loss of international credibility”. Thus the deputy of Brothers of Italy, Mauro Malaguti.
