There are 9 notices of conclusion of the preliminary investigations relating to the investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Foggia which on 9 March led to the execution, by the financiers of the Manfredonia Company, of precautionary measures against 7 suspects, including entrepreneurs, professionals and some public officials currently or in the past serving in the Siponto municipality and a subsidiary company.
Among the new suspects, there is the former mayor of Manfredonia (Foggia), Gianni Rotice, for complicity in electoral corruption. Rotice himself reported it on his Facebook page, saying he was saddened because what was “declared and boasted by two people has no objective confirmation and above all clashes with the clear and intransigent line that the undersigned has pursued as mayor”.
The investigations, started in February 2022, followed three lines relating, the first, to alleged intimidation carried out by two employees of a municipal company to the detriment of colleagues and hypotheses of embezzlement of company assets, the second, to the circumvention of an anti-mafia interdiction ordered by the Prefecture of Foggia in carrying out funeral services and the third to put pressure on the municipal apparatus to avoid the dismantling of an illegal restaurant on the Manfredonia coast. Following the execution of personal precautionary measures, the Review Court changed the restrictive measures against some suspects and reclassified some contested crimes.
