But what are the timescales now foreseen for completing the process?
“We have indicated, together with the general secretaries of the two institutions, the end of 2024 as the reference year but it is likely that the process could be completed earlier – he concludes Giusy Princi – There is an administrative process that must follow its own time”.
The path therefore that will lead to the attribution of functions to the Metro City by the Calabria Region seems to be clear. And the almost ten-year wait, which would mark a fundamental step for the relaunch of the metropolitan area, should end by the end of 2024.
The implementation of the delegations provided for by the Delrio law will allow issues of territorial planning, economic development, mobility, environmental protection and many other crucial aspects linked to the well-being of citizens and the growth of the territory to be addressed more effectively.
Furthermore, with the new functions, the body will be able to take on an active role in the promotion and coordination of local development. Greater ability to attract investments, support businesses, stimulate innovation and encourage the creation of new job opportunities, with particular attention to the peculiarities and needs of the metropolitan area.
