High wages: Benevento will have to present an additional guarantee

For the season which will officially start on July 1st, one of the priorities of Benevento will be to reduce the amount of wages – which in the year just ended was close to ten million -, not only to make it more adequate to the standards of Serie C or to get closer to sustainability, but also, or rather above all, to not deviate too much from some parameters indicated by the Lega Pro.

If he doesn’t succeed, the Giallorossi club would be forced to present a new guarantee, in addition to the 350 thousand euro one already produced to obtain the national license and, consequently, the green light to register for the championship. Parameters that from this season are even more stringent than last season. The guarantee presented at the time of registration, in fact, covers the amount of the gross remuneration – fixed and variable – of the players, technicians and sports directors (the bonuses agreed upon for achieving a certain number of goals or for achievement of promotion) up to one million. In the event that the amount of wages exceeds this quota, for each euro of excess the companies will have to produce a guarantee or pay a guarantee deposit equal to 40% of the excess itself..

Benevento has exceeded this limit with the contracts it already has at home and therefore – unless the liquidity index, i.e. the ratio between current assets and current liabilities, is less than or equal to 1 – by 9 August he will have to deposit a new guarantee with the League to guarantee the extra-budget, i.e. which will guarantee contracts not covered by the previous guarantee. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in the non-enforceability of the contracts, as well as the application of the sanction to the responsible company of the minimum amount of 1 penalty point in the ranking to be served in the 2024/2025 championship.

If this excess continues even at the end of the summer session, then the Giallorossi club – as well as all the other third series clubs that will not fall within the parameters – will have to produce a further guarantee, again covering 40% of the excess, to be deposited by 9 September 2024. It should be noted that gross fixed and variable compensation includes: gross fixed emoluments relating to the current sporting season; the incentives for leaving, the payment of which is due in the current sports season; the gross variable emoluments relating to the current sports season, excluding the prizes agreed for achieving a certain number of goals or for achieving promotion; the fees (fixed, variable and bonus) of the contracts for the exploitation of image rights relating to the current sports season, even if stipulated with companies or third parties with respect to the people whose image is granted.
