First entry into the foreign park for the female Dinamo Sassari: the blue and white team has secured the signature of the Spanish player Umo Diallo Dieng: for the 193 cm center, also an islander given his birth in the Canary Islands, it is another experience in the Italian championship after the parenthesis played with Sanga Milano last season.
DIallo is an inside player who has good hands in both mid-range shooting and passing the ball. She is called to give depth to the Sassari team, she can be a weapon in defense and useful for rebounds as well as a good offensive turnover. Diallo took her first steps at the age of 14 in the Spanish second league at Segle XXI, in 2017 she made her debut in the top flight with Araski AES, and then moved to Stadium Casablanca the following season. In 2020 she won the championship with Baloncesto Avenida and made her debut in Eurocup Women, finishing in second place. The following year she joined Lei Estudiantes and then moved to Turkey to join Nesibe Aydin and subsequently to France to join Flammes Carolo. She lands in the Italian championship in 2023 under the guidance of coach Pinotti with Sanga Milano: before moving to Mexico, Rojas de Veracruz during the current season, she averaged 10.2 points and 5 rebounds in our top league. Umi Diallo won seven medals with the Spanish national team, three golds (Eurobasket U16, U18 and U20), three silvers (BAM Tournament and U17 World Championships and Eurobasket U18) and one bronze (Eurobasket U16).
Coach Antonello Restivo commented on Diallo’s addition as follows: “We know her well because we saw her last year in Milan: she is a player who can give us that depth and physicality that we are looking for and that we didn’t often have last year.” .
