A girl of about 25 years old died this afternoon in via di Tor Bella Monacahit by a car.
The young woman’s name was Manila De Luca and she was traveling on a scooter when she was mowed down by an Opel Astra, driven by a 22-year-old. The tragedy occurred in the main street of the neighborhood, in front of the church and the Pewex supermarket.
The impact was very violent. The 25-year-old flew several meters. A man was driving the car and stopped immediately after the collision. The dynamics of the accident are not yet clear: among the hypotheses is that the car made a risky overtaking to avoid the red light, hitting the girl on the scooter. According to some witnesses, the car ran a red light.
The motorist, however, claims to have passed on a green light and suddenly saw the girl on the road. The state police and the brigade of the VI group were on site and cordoned off the area for the ritual checks.
There are many residents at the scene of the accident. The situation is tense also because there is a lot of anger, especially among the victim’s acquaintances, who are on the side of the road in front of the scooter on which the girl was travelling: “I’ll kill him with my own hands”, the tearful cry of a woman , which accuses the 22-year-old of driving the yellow Opel Astra.
A witness says: “He crossed a second after me. The time I turned and saw him flying on the asphalt.” His little daughter was also in the car with the young man. According to some witnesses, the man was driving with the little girl in his arms.
The news of the young woman’s death shook an entire community. Manila De Luca, this is the name of the victim, worked in a tobacconist in the neighborhood, in via Quaglia. “With those eyes you enchanted the world,” one of her friends wrote on Instagram.
