Telemedicine: over 4.3 million euros to the Autonomous Province of Trento thanks to the PNRR Further step forward towards strengthening telemedicine in Trentino: with the provision approved today by the Provincial Council, on the recommendation of the councilor for health and social policies Mario Tonina , 4,372,839 euros were released as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Mission 6, Component 1. This is a specific investment for the development of telemedicine on the national territory, which in Trentino finds its implementation in the Operational Plan approved last year. “Thanks to the resources of the PNRR – comments councilor Tonina – we aim to implement telemedicine services in the provincial territory in the areas foreseen by the national guidelines on the subject, i.e. diabetology, cardiology, pneumology, oncology, neurology.

The objective is to improve access to services and ensure that healthcare is closer to people: in this sense, telemedicine is a useful support for improving the assistance offered to people with chronic pathologies, supporting us in monitoring health conditions in particular of the elderly and, in perspective, it will be able to help us face one of the greatest challenges that await us, that of the aging population with the consequent increase in chronic conditions”, concludes Tonina.

In the province of Trento, a specific operational plan and a related organizational model for telemedicine are implemented, an instrument which provides for a central role of the healthcare company, which is entrusted with the governance and coordination of telemedicine paths involving all the actors of the Provincial health system. The objective is to extend the use of the different types of telemedicine services (televisit, teleconsultation, remote control, teleassistance) to all professionals involved in particular in the management of patients suffering from the main chronic pathologies, while ensuring, at the same time, the full integration of services with the national enabling platform which guarantees circularity between Regions and autonomous Provinces.

The areas of intervention range from prevention and health promotion, to the management of chronic patients, up to the management of home care, ensuring the use of telemedicine especially for checks and follow-ups of patients already in care, as well as teleconsultation and teleassistance, potentially benefiting the entire population, and telemonitoring, especially for patients with chronic pathologies.

Therefore, on the one hand, what is already in place in the provincial territory will be consolidated and, on the other, the use of the different types of telemedicine services will be extended, also thanks to the support of TrentinoSalute4.0 and Fbk. All this through an important reorganization of the services and processes relating to the taking charge and management of chronic patients, using the tools that are already in use by operators (clinical records, specialists, etc.), and by citizens (TreC+, app and portal).
Trentino has been allocated 4,372,839 euros, as part of the PNRR, Investment M6 C1, in order to make use of these resources it is necessary to stipulate a specific Agreement with the lead Region, in this case Lombardy, which was simultaneously approved today by the provincial government.
