Paolo Vanoli to Turin: Venezia has chosen Di Francesco and this can accelerate and unblock the negotiation for the Granata
It’s Monday 17th June and Torino is still without a coach. After 3 seasons, Ivan Juric says goodbye and the name chosen is that of Paolo Vanoli. Originally from Varese, he recently won the playoffs with Venezia, taking them to Serie A. The negotiation, however, has been blocked for weeks. Toro doesn’t pay the 1 million euro clause and so the lagoon players don’t release him. But now the turning point could come, in a week that seems decisive. A turning point that could be brought about by Di Francesco, who will be the next coach of Venezia. This could accelerate and unblock the negotiation with the Granata club.
The deal could take off
Venezia, without waiting for Torino, moved and chose Eusebio Di Francesco. The Pescara coach was also courted by Empoli, but after a meeting he chose the lagoon players. Vanoli, however, has a contract until 2026 with Venezia. Di Francesco will be made official shortly and this can get the negotiation off the ground. After having signed Di Francesco definitively, Venezia will be in a hurry to release Vanoli too. Vanoli has already communicated to Venezia that he wants to come to Turin. In any case, this is not a real negotiation.
It’s not a negotiation
Last week, Venezia sporting director Antonelli spoke out on the issue. These were his words: “To release Vanoli there is a clause to be paid: we knew we had made an important contract. The clause amounts to one million euros. As happens with footballers, we also believed a lot in our coach. Torino is trying to make a negotiation, but there is no need to make a negotiation. It’s a clause.” Simply put, it’s Taurus who has to pay for it. If Toro pays, he gets it but Di Francesco’s arrival in the lagoon could convince Venezia to grant a small discount.
