The first edition of the “Terra degli Ulivi” trophy in Mariotto and Palombaio

Great success for the first edition of the trophy “Land of Olives”which took place yesterday June 16th Mariotto And Dovecote. For one Sunday the hamlets of Bitonto became the nerve center of all female youth cycling at a national level, hosting the Italian Cup for society and the Pink Trophy. It was the third stop in Puglia and the first ever in the Bari metropolitan area.

«The importance of the event, also valid for the assignment of the FCI Puglia regional title, and reserved for the categories of women debutants and women students, is an index of the success that comes to this event and which will be honored by the presence of the strongest athletes from the whole peninsula in preparation for the Italian Championships in July in Tuscany”, the comment of the Puglia Cycling Federation.

The program of the “Terra degli Ulivi” trophy, sponsored by the Federciclismo and the Municipality of Bitonto, saw the start of the first year female debutants (27 km), followed by the start of the second year female debutants (41 km) and the female students (69 km). The whole circuit, long 13.8 kilometers, affected both Bitonto hamlets starting from Piazza Roma, in Mariotto. The mayor attended the opening and closing ceremonies of the event Francesco Paolo Riccithe deputy mayor Marianna Legistathe delegate to Mariotto Sergio Ragno and the regional president of Italian cycling federation Giuseppe Calabrese.
