500 thousand signatures collected, 40 thousand in Puglia

Ready for the referendum, ready to overcome the jobs act. The CGIL collected over 500 thousand signatures to sign the 4 referendums, in Puglia the signatures reached were 40 thousand.

Work, flexible, temporary, the cost of which does not change, but rather increases for those who give it, becomes the greatest scourge of the south.

The objective now is to overcome the reform launched by the Renzi government and the Jobs Act.

The signature stands

We will try with a referendum: «We will continue with the collection of signatures, the assemblies in the workplace, the banquets in the cities. – says Gigia Bucci, general secretary of the CGIL Puglia – The objective is not only the necessary quorum, but to make known our proposals against the precarious employment which has transformed young people above all into the new poor: today due to the atypical and intermittent relationships that drag wage poverty, tomorrow due to the impossibility of building decent social security careers”.

The escape from the south

Intermittent, low-paid, flexible work, which over time has become social suicide, which pushes the most trained to emigrate, «is a brake on development because qualified and stable work drags down productivity and the quality of doing business. – continues Bucci – There is an emergency in this country if it is surprising that a graduate does not accept salaries of 1200 euros a month. We will continue in our information campaign, in view of the recent vote, against a policy that is deaf to the needs of the world of work which, instead of worrying about emerging poverty, works with differentiated autonomy and premiership. Which not only do not affect the material condition of people but risk, in the case of the secession of rich regions, making it worse whether one lives in the South or the North, because this government is interested in the rich, in big capital, in privatizing everything that can be privatized against the interests of Italians”.

Towards the sea

In these days, therefore, the objective of the CGIL is not only to obtain even more signatures, but also to carry out a real awareness campaign. So much so that in Puglia, but also in Basilicata, the stands to collect signatures will migrate towards the sea, to continue to gain membership.

Transversality

What is striking at this moment is the transversality of membership. Anyone who approaches and signs does not necessarily mean that he is a leftist, nor does it mean that he is a member of a trade union. The Job Acts, presented as a solution to lighten labor costs, have done nothing but create precariousness and, with the increase in the cost of living, this has done nothing but further impoverish the south of Italy, the whose children, often educated and graduated, fly abroad.
