the craftsman from Andria who brings the shoemaking tradition back to Minervino Murge – MinervinoLive.it

Francesco Pierini is a young and talented craftsman from Andria, specialized in shoe repairs. His passion for this profession was born early: at the age of 12, he started working in the family shop, where he learned the first secrets of shoe craftsmanship. From a young age he showed great ambition and determination, characteristics that led him to undertake an educational path of great value.

After acquiring solid initial experience, Francesco decided to move to Florence. Here, in one of the symbolic cities of the Italian shoemaking tradition, he learned the art of handmade bespoke shoes, perfecting his skills and developing an impeccable technique. Subsequently, he moved to Naples, where he specialized as a pattern maker, combining tradition and innovation in the creation of high quality footwear.

Francesco is also an enterprising entrepreneur: he launched his brand, Pierini Maison, which led him to travel the world and also present his creations in New York. But his ambition didn’t stop there. He recently decided to undertake a new project that aims to respond to a deeply felt need in the city of Minervino Murge.

The last shoemaker in Minervino has closed his business, leaving a significant void for citizens in need of shoe repair services. Francesco, with his enterprising spirit, has decided to intervene and offer his contribution to the Municipality of Minervino Murge to start a shoe repair service, available from 22 June 2024, every Saturday afternoon from 3.00pm to 7.00pm in Piazza Bovio 34, the central square of the city.

This project not only brings an essential service back to citizens, but also represents an example of how passion and dedication can make a difference in the community. Francesco aims to start from Minervino and then expand to other small towns, offering the same service and trying to keep alive an art that risks disappearing.

Francesco Pierini not only wants to preserve the shoemaking tradition, but also hopes to be able to teach it to young people who, like him, have passion and resourcefulness. In an era in which facing the future is increasingly difficult, Francesco represents an example of how returning to the roots of professions can offer new opportunities. His story is an invitation not to let traditional arts die and to believe in the value of craftsmanship.

Thanks to Francesco Pierini, Minervino will not lose its connection with the artisan tradition of shoemaking. Every Saturday afternoon from 22 June 2024citizens will have the opportunity to meet him in Piazza Bovio n. 34where Francesco will be ready to help them with their every need, demonstrating that with commitment and determination it is possible to preserve and innovate the ancient arts.
