At the ASP of Trapani there is an increasing emergency among the new dependencies. The provincial health authority, led by Ferdinando Croce, also reports the increase in anonymous birthsa very useful service for those women who, while giving birth, do not wish to take care of a child and thus leave it in the hands of hospital staff and social services who will take care of it for the purposes of adoption.

User requests to the SerD (Addiction Services) of the ASP of Trapani in just one year increased from around 4,000 to 5,500: there is a risk of spreading, especially among young people, new drugs such as Crack and Fentanyl, which are increasingly powerful and insidious, with worrying consequences for society and the health system. The Trapani health company is launching a series of initiatives aimed at combating the phenomenon and raising awareness among the community of the dangers deriving from the use of narcotic substances with particular reference to New Psychoactive Substances (NPS).

Themes that were addressed in the focus dedicated to “Health and Cinema”, which took place in the square of Malfa, on the island of Salina. The meeting was organized as part of the XIII edition of Marefestival Troisi Award, which every year reflects on how cinema can become an effective communication tool to convey precious messages to the public, thanks also to the presence of well-known actors, saw the participation of the extraordinary commissioner ASP Trapani Ferdinando Croce and illustrious speakers discussing various topics. “The Salina event, for years now, represents a useful opportunity to shine the spotlight on the most current issues – explains the commissioner – which concern the health and quality of life of our citizens and young generations. In this sense, the cinematographic vehicle is indispensable for reaching an important number easily and widely in order to promote healthy lifestyles and raise awareness of the services and facilities made available in the area”.

The ASP Trapani also specifically illustrated the news on the birth path, with particular reference to the Trapani model for anonymous birth, capable of saving many newborns from abandonment and unjust death. In this sense, the company has demonstrated an important commitment by equipping the S. Antonio Abate hospital in Trapani with a “cradle for life”, equipped with video surveillance and thermoregulation which are activated when the newborn is placed on the cot.

On the stage of the Piazza Immacolata in Malfa, in addition to Commissioner Croce, there were: Gaetano Vivona, director of the Mental Health Department with a report entitled “Not just Fentanyl: addictions and new drugs, even more powerful and insidious. Focus on the dangers of use, the activity of the ASP of Trapani in the area”; Laura Giambanco, director of the UOC Obstetrics and Gynecology PO Trapani with the speech on the topic “Birth journey: breastfeeding, anonymous birth and cradle for life. The Trapani model” And Maria Pia Ferlazzo, Press Office manager, who will talk about communication in medicine in relation to the world of cinema. The participation of the ASP Trapani was also useful for announcing a congress promoted by the ANSPI (National Health Association of the Small Islands), chaired by Gianni Donigagliawhich will be held on the island of Favignana next 11 and 12 October: the title is “Divergent thinking in the construction of healthcare in the smaller islands: The Favignana manifesto” with the aim of addressing problems, critical issues and possible solutions to health issues relating to the island territories.
