THIRTY-SIX MILLION euros to fly the ports of Naples and Salerno. This is the total value of the money advanced by Banco Bpm, as issuing fronter, and UniCredit in favor of the Central Tyrrhenian Sea System Port Authority. The expansion and redevelopment of the ports of Naples and Salerno, in fact, are part of a larger project that will be carried out by RCM Costruzioni, a Salerno company of the Rainone Group, with the support of the two banks and Sace. The interventions fall within the framework agreement for the assignment of the execution of maritime infrastructure works; the company will be the sole executor, appointed by the Consorzio Stabile Grandi Lavori, of which the Salerno company is the driving force and relative majority shareholder. To obtain the contractual advance necessary to activate and speed up the completion of the works, RCM Costruzioni was able to count on Advance Payment Bond. Sace also intervened with a guarantee as part of the operation of the Strategic Survey in terms of the activation of production and employment processes on the projects relating to the Pnrr.

“The collaboration with RCM Costruzioni Srl, a company with a long history of excellence in the sector, underlines the strategic importance of maritime infrastructures for our country and confirms Sace’s commitment to promoting projects of economic and environmental relevance”, underlines Gianluca Amero (photo on the left, bottom), Regional Director Sud Mid Corporate Sace. “Our guarantee – he adds – is a key element that allows us to accelerate the realization of these crucial works, promoting productive and employment development in line with the objectives of the Pnrr. The success of this initiative demonstrates the synergy between financial institutions and businesses, fundamental to support the growth and sustainability of local communities and the Italian port sector”. In detail, the contract, with a total value of approximately 220 million euros, provides for the execution of the extension and strengthening works of the Duca d’Aosta Dam and the completion works of the eastern dock in the port of Naples (photo on the right), as well as the consolidation and functional adaptation of the Ponente pier, the 3 January Pier and the Manfredi Pier in the port of Salerno.

RCM Costruzioni, operating for over 40 years in the general construction sector, has implemented, over the last 15 years, a strategic industrial development plan aimed at the construction of maritime works, which has allowed it, to date, to reach a position of absolute privilege in the national ranking of the large port infrastructure sector and to affirm its leadership with the acquisition of orders worth over 2 billion euros throughout the national territory. “Only in the space of five years (2018-2022) – the company says – the value of production has grown by over 400% and the growth of the corporate business, in light of the ongoing and recently acquired orders, is expected increasingly exponential. The turnover for VAT purposes, for example, went from approximately 131.5 million euros to over 235 million euros in the two-year period 2022-2023 alone, in absolute contrast to the economic trend of the sector and system”.

Despite the growth in the size of the company’s business, RCM Costruzioni still manages to maintain a streamlined operational structure today, due to a short-range chain of command, which has allowed it to benefit, thanks to the containment of fixed structural costs, from important economies of scale to the benefit of growing margins, largely reinvested by RCM itself, directly or through controlled or associated companies, in the same core business of large port works, through the constant technological updating of the industrial machinery fleet, and in other complementary activities, such as primary initiatives in the private construction sector. “We were positively impressed by the extraordinarily quick times to evaluate the operation and by the speed of the administrative process that led to the completion and release of the guarantee”, says Elio Rainone (photo on the left, above), sole director of RCM Costruzioni .

The company is currently also involved in the construction of the largest strategic port infrastructures on our peninsula (port hub in the port of Ravenna and mega basin of Sestri Ponente in the port of Genoa) and is preparing, in consideration of the pressing times, to face the most challenging important, that is, the conclusion, in compliance with the contractual timetables, of the realization of the main maritime works started and financed with Pnrr funds. Among these, dredging in the port of Trapani; the consolidation of the Port of Catania dam; the adaptation and static safety of the southern Vittorio Veneto and southern Santa Lucia quays in the port of Palermo, as well as the southern quay of the Piave pier in the port of Palermo, but also the construction of the new Ro-Ro Terminal in the western outport of the port Cagliari canal.
