18 million in funding for fishing and aquaculture is on the way
An important announcement in Pescara
During the 2024 edition of the States General of Fisheries and Aquaculture, held this morning in Pescara in the Camplone room of the Chieti-Pescara Chamber of Commerce, an announcement was made that could mark a turning point for the sector in Abruzzo. The vice-president of the regional council, Emanuele Imprudente, concluded the event with words that bring hope and future prospects for Abruzzo fishing and aquaculture.
## Community funds for the relaunch of the sector
Imprudente highlighted how over 18 million euros from community funds from the EMFFA (European Fund for Maritime Affairs, Fisheries and Aquaculture) will be allocated to Abruzzo. This large sum will be used to innovate and support a sector that plays a crucial role not only from an economic but also a cultural point of view. The intent is to use these funds to grow a system already relevant to history, identity, tradition and culture in the region.
## Planning attentive to the needs of the territory
The vice president then underlined how Abruzzo has distinguished itself at a national level thanks to the virtuous use of the resources available through previous programming. In this particularly difficult moment for local companies, substantial resources are being made available that can be used in a structural manner. Imprudente confirmed that the funds are already available and that the first tenders will be published soon.
## A work in progress in the name of general interest
The strategy outlined includes a “work in progress” approach, with concerted tenders that take into account territorial realities such as land-based structures, ports and everything that can be connected to the world of fishing and aquaculture. This inclusive vision aims to maximize the positive impact of funding on the territory.
