MotoGP, Aprilia approaches Ducati: Bezzecchi towards signing!

After the announcement of the move of Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini to KTM livery, the factory team’s Aprilia remains the most sought-after bike on the MotoGP market. Massimo Rivola scored a big hit by signing Jorge Martin the day after the Italian GP, but the name of his teammate is missing. In Noale they would like an Italian driver and everything suggests that Marco Bezzecchi is at the top of the wish list.

Martin-Bezzecchi next attacking pair

The Noale manufacturer was very astute in taking advantage of Ducati’s about-face to Jorge Martin, the current leader of the MotoGP championship. Now he has the second shot in mind, but first they had to wait for Maverick Vinales to become official in KTM. Roses’ standard bearer will leave the RS-GP24 after three and a half years, just as he was starting to reap important results: victory in the Sprint at Portimao, a winning double in Texas, a podium in the short race at Le Mans. Too many discontinuities in terms of performance have worn out a relationship begun in the middle of the 2021 season, when he immediately divorced with Yamaha. And even on that occasion Massimo Rivola was able to seize the moment to bring a top player into his box.

Now that Aprilia is becoming an increasingly competitive bike, it can also afford the luxury of focusing on talent. Bezzecchi has always been a market target and after Mugello the meetings with VR46 have intensified. So much so that the official press release could arrive in the next few days. Marco’s adventure with Ducati should therefore end at the end of 2024: third place in the ’23 MotoGP general classification, but the feeling with the subsequent evolution of the Desmosedici was not successful. After all, every rider’s goal is to aim for a factory team (see Luca Marini…) and ‘Bez’ doesn’t want to miss this great opportunity. On the other hand, with the rise of Marc Marquez in the official Ducati, the doors of the Red team are closed until at least 2026.

Franco Morbidelli remains to be placed, with Pramac moving ever closer to Yamaha. For the Italian-Brazilian there would be a way out VR46 alongside Fabio Di Giannantonio, but the surprises don’t end there.
