No news is arriving from Canicattì and the club certainly cannot wait forever. Also thanks to the administrative elections, the times have, unfortunately, become longer, but now every day lost weighs heavily on the planning of the next season.
The Biancazzurri managers also know this, who seem to have set themselves a short-term date to see the development linked to a possible acquisition of the Canicattì title for a possible presence at the starting line of the next Serie D championship, also because, also and especially in this case, there would be a lot of time to have to make up for the other teams, who have already made moves to reconfirm and make new purchases.
It is undeniable that, as the days pass, hopes are fading slightly, even taking into consideration the rumors coming from Canicattì about possible new buyers, even if these have been denied for the moment.
«We are waiting for certain news – says sporting director Alessandro Bonaffini – now we are “risking” everything. We are still waiting for Canicattì even if soon, due to factors, we will almost be forced to make a decision to start working on the future, be it Eccellenza, for which we will set up a team to win, or Serie D.”
In recent days, surprisingly, the Bellomo case has returned to the center of attention: the Federal Prosecutor Paolo Mormando opposed the sentence of the FIGC Territorial Court, which had inflicted 9 penalty points on Gela Calcio, to be served however in the season just concluded, i.e. the 2023/24 season with the biancazzurri who would still be safe. Mormando has, in fact, asked the Court of Appeal for a sanction of 11 points which will however be served next season.
«The Bellomo case – says Bonaffini – ended with a sentence in our favor, with a penalty to be served this season. There is a counter appeal from the National Prosecutor’s Office which “exposes” what, according to them, would be the right decision. From what we understand, the situation should not be worrying, our lawyer is working to monitor the matter and ensure that the decision is the same. We will know more on June 28th.”
